If you only had one beach day in Los Cabos, where would you go?
That might be a surprisingly difficult question. Baja California Sur is home to an incredible variety of beaches, from the lively shores of Médano Beach in Cabo San Lucas to quiet coves along the Tourist Corridor, beautiful beaches near San José del Cabo, and the stunning beaches around La Paz. And if you're willing to venture a little farther, Cerritos Beach and Balandra Beach near La Paz are two more Baja favorites that are worth knowing about.
But if you only have one day, you want to make it count. We asked our ELITE Real Estate Los Cabos agents the same question: If you could choose only one beach for a full day in Baja California Sur, which one would it be? And, of course, everyone had an opinion!
What Makes a Great Baja Beach?
The best beach depends on what you're looking for. Do you want calm water for swimming? Great snorkeling? A quiet place to relax? Easy access and amenities? Surfing? Or simply the most beautiful setting?
Some of the most popular beaches in and around Los Cabos include Chileno Beach, Santa Maria Beach, Palmilla Beach and Médano Beach. If you're willing to make the drive north, Cerritos Beach near Todos Santos and Balandra Beach near La Paz offer completely different Baja beach experiences.
Playa Chileno
Located along the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, Chileno is a favorite for visitors who want a classic Cabo beach day. It's known for calm, clear water and is a popular spot for swimming and snorkeling.
Santa Maria Beach
Santa Maria is a beautiful horseshoe-shaped cove along the Tourist Corridor. Its protected location creates calm water that is ideal for swimming and snorkeling, making it one of the best choices if getting in the water is a priority.
Palmilla Beach
Near San José del Cabo, Palmilla is another excellent choice for a relaxing beach day. The protected cove provides calm, swimmable water and beautiful views, making it a longtime favorite among locals and visitors.
Médano Beach
If you want your beach day to include restaurants, beach clubs, water activities and plenty of energy, Médano Beach in Cabo San Lucas is hard to beat. It's one of the area's most popular beaches and is conveniently located near downtown Cabo and the marina.
Cerritos Beach
About an hour north of Cabo San Lucas, near the charming town of Todos Santos, Cerritos Beach offers a completely different experience from the resort beaches of Los Cabos. Cerritos is known for its sandy beach, Pacific Ocean waves and laid-back Baja atmosphere. It's particularly popular with surfers, but it's also a great place to spend the day if you want to get away from the busier resort areas. If your idea of the perfect beach day includes a little road trip, good food, surfing and a more relaxed Baja vibe, Cerritos is definitely worth considering.
Balandra Beach
And then there's Balandra Beach, just outside La Paz. Often recognized for its iconic turquoise water, white sand and distinctive El Hongo rock formation, Balandra is one of the most famous beaches in Baja California Sur. The calm, shallow water and dramatic landscape make it an incredible place to visit, although its protected status means there are specific visitor rules and access limitations. If you're staying in Los Cabos and have an extra day, a trip to La Paz and Balandra can make for an unforgettable Baja adventure.

So, Which Beach Would We Choose?
That's the fun part of the video! Our ELITE agents each have their own favorite, and their answers reflect just how different the Baja California Sur beach experience can be. Whether you're looking for a swimmable beach close to Cabo, a snorkeling spot along the Tourist Corridor, a laid-back surf beach in Cerritos, or the turquoise waters of Balandra near La Paz, there's a beach here for you.
